September #Literacies Chat: Supporting students through writing & literacies

In light of recent events including the White supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the announcement of the phase out of the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy, and the ongoing political climate that many feel is polarizing our country, this month’s #literacies chat focused on how we can support students who may feel vulnerable based on parts of their identity (race/ethnicity, immigration status, gender identity, sexual identity, etc.) and how we can use writing and literacies to empower, advocate and be allies.

Check out the storify for the conversation we had! If you weren’t able to join us, find resources shared during the conversation and we hope to see you next month.
